Known for a long time as "Sleeping Beauty", Bordeaux has become a fashionable destination thanks to the renovation of its historic centre and docks. Listed as a UNESCO world heritage site since 2007, the Port de la Lune is a model for urban renovation. Place des Quinconces, Place Saint-Pierre, the Grand Théâtre or the stunning façades of the Chartrons are worth the trip, before heading on to taste some fine wines in the region’s vineyards (Saint-Emilion, Médoc, Sauterne, etc.). However, Bordeaux, regularly listed among the most pleasant cities to live with proximity to Arcachon and Cap Ferret, also remains a thriving business destination with the presence of large companies, particularly in the aerospace and food-processing sectors.
